The Volvo Marque

Volvo’s origins as a car manufacturer date back to 1927, when the first cars rolled off the production line at their factory in Gothenburg, Sweden. They became renowned for extremely high standards of safety and build quality, with their estate cars in particular becoming a popular fixture in the UK during the 80s and 90s.

The Volvo cars group spent some time under Ford ownership, in 2000, before being sold on to Geely Automobile, a Chinese company, ten years later.

Volvo have continued to play to their relative strengths, with a modest but well-regarded model line up. The latest range consists of eight cars, of which the XC90 is a notable best-seller in the 4×4 category, whereas the V70 builds upon their estate car heritage spanning many decades.
